I like that it started in the action. There was no waiting on the Chinese they were already there and they were already trying to get Temeraire back. I also like how proud Temeraire was of his defying the government and protecting his person.

Sick dragons is a funny though though I feel bad for Temeraire the giant baby.

Also I love how after having the women are equal debate with Temeraire and Laurence, Riley decides to duck out when Laurence has to give the 'talk' to Temeraire.

The Sea dragon was interesting. There are other large mystical creatures. In this world. Also we've made it to China and Temeraire is still being possessive.

Temeraire met his mother which was awesome and we found out he has a "twin". Temeraire learns to read and write in Chinese, and now they may be headed back to completely upend the dragon raising system in Europe.

This is actually my second read of this one. I know I don't normally do re reads but I wanted to do the entire series at once this time. Lets go.

Post Read Thoughts:

I kind of want to create a cosplay of Catherine even though we don't know much about her. I kind of like her and want to see where her character goes throughout the series.

I love the combat style of the dragons in this universe. It makes more sense to me to have a team on the backs of these massive dragons than just one rider.

This was the first novel in a 9 book series, there was a lot of introductory information and a lot of world building that had to happen which made the story seem a little lackluster but I still can't wait to read what happens to Lawrence and Temeraire.

I enjoyed the story, the spice was good, and I'm all for a good reverse harem. I think I'm more interested in the epilogue and how it leads into the next series.
