Skull, roses, and spider web on dark grey distressed background

Hunting Adeline

By H.D. Carlton

Dates Read

Oct 17 - Nov 11

2024

Favorite Character:

Weirdly enough I fell for Michael and Baron this time

Its always the quirky side characters for me.

Sibby is high up on the list this time.

Read in E-book format

Favorite quotes:

Ch 40 "I gasp, affronted by the pure audacity of this man."

Ch 40 "He’s giving me a spoonful of my own medicine, and it tastes like ass."

Blurb:

The Diamond

Death walks alongside me,

But the reaper is no match for me.

I'm trapped in a world full of monsters dressed as men, and those who aren't as they seem.

They won't keep me forever.

I no longer recognize the person I've become,

And I'm fighting to find my way back to the beast who hunts me in the night.

They call me a diamond,

But they've only created an angel of death.

The Hunter

I was born a predator,

With ruthlessness ingrained in my bones.

When what's mine is stolen from me in the night,

Like a diamond hidden within a fortress,

I find that I can no longer contain the beast.

Blood will paint the ground as I tear apart this world to find her.

And bring her back to where she belongs.

No one will escape my wrath,

Especially not those who have betrayed me.

Thoughts:

OH this one, yes I had to set this one down a few times but I did manage to get through it. I loved all the action and seeing Addie get stronger. Beautiful survival story. Also it was fun to see Sibby back after Satan's Affair.

The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy

By Julia Quinn

Dates Read

Nov 2nd-Nov 3rd

2024

Favorite Character:

Aunt Charlotte

She was very no-nonsense and she scares me a little.

Favorite quote:

Richard: "Oh so you're on her side now"

Iris: "Well, no one seems to be on my side"

Blurb:

Sir Richard Kenworthy has less than a month to find a bride. He knows he can't be too picky, but when he sees Iris Smythe-Smith hiding behind her cello at her family's infamous musicale, he thinks he might have struck gold. She's the type of girl you don't notice until the second—or third—look, but there's something about her, something simmering under the surface, and he knows she's the one.

Iris Smythe–Smith is used to being underestimated. With her pale hair and quiet, sly wit she tends to blend into the background, and she likes it that way. So when Richard Kenworthy demands an introduction, she is suspicious. He flirts, he charms, he gives every impression of a man falling in love, but she can't quite believe it's all true. When his proposal of marriage turns into a compromising position that forces the issue, she can't help thinking that he's hiding something . . . even as her heart tells her to say yes.

Thoughts:

I loved seeing the Bridgerton siblings, we saw Hyacinth and Gareth at the 1825 Smythe-Smith musicale. That being said, why was Richard such an idiot. Like seriously I appreciate that he was looking out for his sisters but why are men?

Also with how action packed the last two books were this one was kind of a let down.

The Sum of All Kisses

By Julia Quinn

Dates Read

Nov 1st-Nov 2nd

2024

Favorite Character:

Sarah

She was willing to do something she hated to make her cousin happy

Listened through Hoopla

9hrs 36min

Blurb:

He thinks she's an annoying know-it-all...

Hugh Prentice has never had patience for dramatic females, and if Lady Sarah Pleinsworth has ever been acquainted with the words shy or retiring, she's long since tossed them out the window. Besides, a reckless duel has left this brilliant mathematician with a ruined leg, and now he could never court a woman like Sarah, much less dream of marrying her.

She thinks he's just plain mad...

Sarah has never forgiven Hugh for the duel he fought that nearly destroyed her family. But even if she could find a way to forgive him, it wouldn't matter. She doesn't care that his leg is less than perfect, it's his personality she can't abide. But forced to spend a week in close company they discover that first impressions are not always reliable. And when one kiss leads to two, three, and four, the mathematician may lose count, and the lady may, for the first time, find herself speechless ...

Thoughts:

Pretty subtle enemies to lovers and forced proximity. It did suffer from a bit of "Why are men?" but the action at the end was nice.
