Favorite Character:
Can't help but love Thomas
Blurb:
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.
Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.
Thoughts:
I love a good mystery, and was very surprised by who the villain was and what their motives were.
One thing that did annoy me was the number or corset complaints that were in the novel. This may be a thing that specifically bothers me but I understand how corsets work and how they were worn properly in the Victorian era. If there was only one I would have been okay with it but there were multiple times that women's fashion being inconvenient was brought up. We will see how the rest of the stories go.
